Homemade iced tea with peaches

Few things beat a cold and refreshing homemade iced tea on a hot day. In this recipe, we combine the mild freshness of green tea with the sweetness of peaches – without any artificial flavors or sugar bombs. This is perfect for those who want something refreshing and natural.

Ingredients

  • 8 dl water
  • 2 tablespoons green tea (e.g. Sencha or Green tea with lemon)
  • 2 ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon honey or other sweetener (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

How to make peach ice cream

  1. Boil water and let it cool down to about 80 °C.
  2. Add the tea and let it steep for 2–3 minutes. Strain the leaves and let the tea cool.
  3. Mash one of the peaches lightly with a fork and mix into the tea.
  4. Add slices of the other peach, honey and ice cubes. Stir well.
  5. Serve with fresh mint leaves and extra ice if desired.

Total time: 20 minutes

Why use peaches in iced tea?

Peaches provide a natural sweetness and fruitiness that pairs perfectly with green tea. The smooth flavor makes the tea feel round and balanced – and is delicious both on its own and as a base for further flavorings.

Tips for the tea you can use

  • Sencha Superior – for a classic green tea base with a fresh and vegetal character.
  • Green tea with lemon – gives a little citrus boost that highlights the fruit flavor.
  • Oolong tea – for those who want a rounder and slightly more floral character.

Storage and serving

The tea can be refrigerated for up to 3 days, but tastes best the same day. Serve in tall glasses with lots of ice and an extra slice of peach for garnish.

Why make homemade iced tea?

Homemade iced tea has become a popular summer drink – and for good reason. When you make your own iced tea, you have full control over the ingredients. You avoid unnecessary additives, artificial flavors and excess sugar, and can instead focus on real flavors from natural ingredients. Peach is a perfect ingredient in iced tea: it provides natural sweetness, a soft fruitiness and harmonizes beautifully with green tea. Plus, it’s easy to vary the flavor – you can add herbs like mint, use a little lime juice for tartness, or let the tea steep with fresh berries for an extra summery twist.

Is there a difference between using loose tea or tea bags?

Yes! Loose tea usually has a fuller and more nuanced flavor than regular tea bags bought at the grocery store. For homemade iced tea, we always recommend using quality loose tea, as this gives a more authentic and fresh flavor, but also flexibility. You also get more out of the raw material, and the tea performs better both hot and cold without becoming bitter.
